Once upon a time, an old man planted some turnip seeds.
从前，有位老人种植了一些萝卜种子。
The sun shone, and the rain fell, and soon the seeds began to grow,
阳光雨水充足，种子马上就发芽了。
But one of the turnips grew bigger than the others.
但是有棵萝卜要比其他萝卜长的快。
It grew and it grew until it was enormous.
它长得越来越大。
One day, the old man said, “Let us have some turnip soup.”
一天，那位老人说，我们来喝点萝卜汤吧。
And he went out into the garden to pull up the enormous turnip.
他去花园将那个大萝卜拔了出来。
He pulled……and he pulled……
他拔呀拔。
But the enormous turnip would not come up out of the ground.
但是大萝卜还是没有能从地里拔出来。
So the old man asked his wife to come and help him.
老人叫他的妻子来帮他。
The old woman held on to the old man,and the old man held on to the turnip.
妇人拉住老人，老人拉住萝卜。
They pulled and they pulled, and they both gave a shout,
他们拉呀拉，他们叫喊出来。
But they still couldn't make the big turnip come out.
但是他们还是没能将萝卜拔出来。
So the old woman asked the little boy to come and help.
妇人让小男孩来帮忙。
The little boy held on to the old woman,
小男孩拽住老妇人，
And the old woman held on to the old man,
老妇人拽住老人，
and the old man held on to the turnip.
老人拽住萝卜。
They pulled and they pulled,
他们拉呀拉，
And they all gave a shout,
他们叫嚷起来，
But they still couldn't make the big turnip come out.
但是萝卜还是没能拔出来。
So the little boy asked the little girl to come and help.
小男孩让小女孩来帮忙。
The little girl held on to the little boy,
小女孩拽住小男孩，
And the little boy held on to the old woman,
小男孩拽住老妇人，
And the old woman held on to the old man,
老妇人拽住老人，
and the old man held on to the turnip.
老人拽住萝卜，
They pulled and they pulled,And they all gave a shout,
他们拔呀拔，他们叫嚷起来，
But they still couldn't make the big turnip come out.
但是还是没能拔出萝卜。
So the little girl asked the cat to come and help,
小女孩叫猫来帮忙，
The cat held on to the little girl,
猫拽住小女孩，
And The little girl held on to the little boy,
小女孩拽住小男孩，
And the little boy held on to the old woman,And the old woman held on to the old man,
小男孩拽住老妇人，老妇人拽住老人，
and the old man held on to the turnip.
老人拽住萝卜，

So the cat asked a little mouse to come and help,
猫让小老鼠来帮忙。
The mouse held on to the cat,
老鼠拽住猫，
And the cat held on to the little girl,
猫拽住小女孩，
And The little girl held on to the little boy,
小女孩拽住小男孩，
And the little boy held on to the old woman,
小男孩拽住老妇人，
And the old woman held on to the old man,
老妇人拽住老人，
and the old man held on to the turnip.
老人拽住萝卜。
They pulled and they pulled,And they all gave a shout,

And, this time……
这次，
Yes, this time, the turnip came out.
这次萝卜拔出来了。
And that night, the old man, and the old woman,
那天晚上，老人，老妇人，
And the little boy, and the little girl, and the cat, and the mouse…………all had turnip soup for dinner.
小男孩，小女孩，猫和老鼠都享用了萝卜汤晚餐。
