Today my dad and I were waiting for the ferry when suddenly we heard a big argument.
今天，我和爸爸正在等待渡轮的时候，突然传来了一阵激烈的争吵声。
Two women tourists and a young man were shouting at each other.
两位女游客和一个年轻人相互争吵着。
The man held out a bag, and showed everyone that it was empty.
这个年轻人拿出包，给大家看包是空的。
The crowd stared at the three people. No one knew what was happening.
人们都围观着这三个人。没人知道发生了什么事。
My dad moved through the crowd and said quietly to one of the women, 'What's going on?'
我爸爸从人群中挤到其中一个女游客旁边，轻声问道：“发生什么事了？”
'They stole my friend's purse,' said the woman.
这位游客说：“他们偷了我朋友的钱包。”
'We were in the bookshop, buying postcards. Three young men started talking to us.
“我们正在书店里买明信片，这三个年轻人开始和我们搭讪。
Suddenly my friend noticed that her purse was gone.
突然，我朋友发现她的钱包不见了。
Two of the men ran away. We followed this man here.'
其中两个人跑开了，我们跟随这个人来到这里。”
Then the gates opened. The man hurried aboard, and the two women tourists went after him.
这时，渡轮的门开了，年轻人急忙上船，这两名女游客紧随他上船。
'Wait,' said my dad, 'Let's take the next ferry.'
我爸爸说：“等等，我们坐下一趟吧！”
This was strange. Was my dad afraid of that man? I followed him to a shop nearby.
这很让人费思所夷。我爸爸怕那个人吗？我跟爸爸走到附近的一家商店。
He picked up the phone and quickly dialled 110.
他拿起电话，快速拨打110。
'I want to report a theft. The man is on No. 3 Ferry now.
“我要报案，有人偷窃。小偷现在在3号渡轮。
It just left a few minutes ago. Please meet the ferry.'
渡轮几分钟之前开走了，请赶上这艘渡轮。”
He gave some more details, and then put the phone down.
他又解说了一些细节，然后挂了电话。
We took the next ferry.
我们乘坐下一趟渡轮。
As we got off, we saw the two women tourists and four policemen standing around the man and he looked worried.
当我们走下渡轮时，我们看见那两位女游客和四名警察围着年轻人，他看起来很焦急。
'Well done, Dad,' I said as we walked by. Dad just smiled.
“干得好，爸爸！”我们经过那儿的时候我这样说道。爸爸只是笑了笑。
